“Why Harmony Matters: A Latin Soul in Nordic Design”

From Medellín to Helsinki: weaving design, meaning, and human experience

I was born in Colombia — a place where the richness of texture, rhythm, and warmth is not only part of the environment, but of the culture itself. I studied Product Design Engineering at EAFIT, drawn early on to the way things work and feel, and the meaning behind form.

Design was never just about the object. It was always about the experience — the emotional thread that connects humans with their surroundings. That curiosity took me far: first to Australia, then to Korea, where I met a Finnish better half, then to Finland, where I began a deeper transformation — both personal and professional.

In 2013, I entered the International Design Business Management master's program at Aalto University, blending business acumen with creative strategy. I had already completed several diplomas in plastics design, packaging, advertising and visual thinking — but this master’s was different. It helped me see design as a tool for storytelling and coherence.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with companies like Futurice, Digitalist, where I got to work with incredible talented firms and the souls behind them, recently, Bergen and Ridge Group — a boutique architecture firm focused on experiential hospitality across roles in service design, visual design, and vision crafting, I realized something essential: my greatest strength lies in curating brand atmospheres that feel intentional, elevated, and whole.

Today, at 1921Atelier  I work as a visual experience and identity consultant, helping brands translate who they are into spaces, objects, digital touchpoints and emotional narratives. I bring a Southern soul into a Nordic frame — merging the serene elegance of Scandinavian design with the vibrant richness of Latin creativity. My work isn’t about decoration — it’s about coherence, clarity, and the invisible beauty that makes everything feel just right.

A design journey.
